Cherry Bomb!

In our humanities course on Drama, we explored the meaning behind the term "doll." Initially, the term seemed straightforward - often used by men to describe an attractive woman or to ask for a favor. However, after delving deeper into the topic, we discovered that the term has a negative connotation, with dolls often being perceived as submissive, unintelligent, and lacking autonomy. We explored this concept further through our study of Henrik Ibsen's play "A Doll's House," which was groundbreaking for its time in the way it unintentionally became a symbol for women's rights. Throughout the course, we sought the expertise of actors and dramaturgs to enhance our understanding of the world of theatre. To conclude the quarter, we even created a screenplay, which involved time-traveling Nora from "A Doll's House" seeking advice from a prominent figure in the women's rights movement. The Woman that I chose for this story is Joan Jett.

My action project was a great experience. Incorporating social nuances from different eras was challenging, but I got help and overcame it. I also learned the importance of a well-formatted screenplay.
