Tourette's Syndrome: What is it?

    We examined mental illnesses in Unit II of the Disease course. We looked at the physiological aspects of the illnesses as well as the psychological aspects. We read The Reason I Jump, an insightful book, as part of our study of autism. It brought to light how similar to ourselves those with mental illnesses are despite their apparent differences from us. After finishing the book, we had a greater sense of empathy for the suffering people in our neighborhood. We were given an Action Project centered on empathy in order to deepen our empathy for those who struggle with mental illness.
