Question!

Welcome to my first action project for this term's Humanities class, Forbidden Books. This class is about banned and/or censored information, which things like books carry, that some people might not want the public to know about and why. We learned about the Socratic Method for the first part of the term, The Socratic Method is basically an argument, but with a lot of questions of "why" involved. There are five steps to the Socratic Method. First, look for statements that people wall common sense. Second, find an exception to that rule. Third, if you have proven your statement false, you must go back and ask the question again. Fourth, refine your response. Fifth, continue the process for as long as possible. The Socratic Method can be considered dangerous because it can change how someone thinks, believes, or sees the world around them. This is what got Socrates, the one who invented it, killed for spreading his knowledge onto the children of Athens about there being only one God, and the Earth is round, etc. In this action project, my classmate MP and I challenge the afterlife and where we go I play as the Socrates character, who questions every statement MP throws at me to drive her deeper into the topic. MP plays as the Meletus character, who experiences a transformation in the dialogue.

Script:

My grandma told me that when she dies, she's gonna go to heaven, you think that's true?

I think that it might be true, since she believes in a certain religion that makes her believe that shes gonna go to heaven

But if we don’t necessarily believe in that religion, do you still think we go somewhere when we die?

I would say that if you believe in religions such as christianity and Buddhism or any others that believe in an afterlife, then yes you would “go” somewhere when you die.

What if a person were to be an atheist?

Then you would just go in the ground or become powder, if you dont believe that your going to go somewhere when you die, then you wont go anywhere.

So what your saying is that if we believe in it, is whats going to happen?

Yes, thats what im saying, belief is all you need if you think your gonna go to heaven, then you will.

If I believe im going to wander the earth as a ghost, would that be true?

Yes it would be true
